Flow control valves are those that control the motion of fluid. This article will provide an in-depth look at the different types of flow control valves, which are widely used in many different industries to help manage numerous variables like flow, pressure, temperature, PH levels, and more. Its applications in different fields have grown significantly due to its ability to control variables like flow, pressure, temperature, PH levels, speed, etc.

Types Of Control Valves Are There?

  1. Depending on the number of exits or routes
  • Two-way valves
  • Butterfly valve: Used for liquids that are in a low-pressure state, they have a disc that rotates on an axis. They take up little space and quickly open and close , so they’re ideal to handle things quickly. They do not regulate, open and close.
  • Angle seat valve: They are activated pneumatically and are used to open or close the passage. They are made of stainless steel, and one of the main advantages is that they require little maintenance, which results in a longer useful life span. Similar to the ball valve, these valves are scheduled to be as easy as possible to install.
  • Cone and seal barrels use a valve that functions in the direction the cone is rising, which is why it’s used if you add low flow. In that event, the valve requires a large actuator so that the seal can shut the tiderate, and the valve is thus employed when the speed is low.
  • Double fluid-actuated seats: In these seats, the seats themselves are moved by two different hydraulic forces. They are used when the hydraulic fluid pressure is great.
  • Three-way valves (heating and air conditioning)

Double-seated valves: Here, the seats are exposed to a combination of hydraulic forces. They are used when the fluid pressure is high.

  • Four-way valves

These valves are designed to regulate the temperature of a heating installation.

  1. Depending on the drive

The type of drive also varies manual, pneumatic, electric, etc.

  • Manually operated valves

In this case, the presence of an operator near the valve will be necessary.

  • Electrically or electronically actuated valves
  • The so-called electro valves or solenoid valves allow or close the passage of fluid when fed by an electric current, hence the name electro valves.

The solenoid valves can be of two types:

The valves that are usually closed are those that attempt to prevent a fluid from passing through it using mechanical means. A valve will be shut, creating a blockage when it comes to fluid passage, when we use (a solenoid or coil makes) the valve open.

We divide these valves into two types: Those derived without electricity being applied open and can not be activated without an electrical current. Once electric current has been channeled, the valve is closed and the fluid will keep on moving. When the power supply breaks, the solenoid valve opens up and continues to facilitate the flow of the fluid.

The degree of difficulty of the installation may determine the amount of actuators to apply in order to maintain a fluid flow with maximum control.

  • Hydraulically or pneumatically actuated valves

The pilot is a switch that controls the circulation of pilot/hydraulic actuation mechanisms. The valves may be comprised of pathways that interact with the operators in the room. The parts are made up of slides that control the passage to the pilots and pressures for the exits.

The function of the slides is to allow a reciprocating motion to operate the tracks. The communication between the sides controls the movement rate of the fluid and the water pressure of an aerial device using the blackhawksupply.com microswitches.
